Inspired by a scene at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, this painting is part of the “Museum Meditations” group of 36 paintings completed in 2020 during the initial year of Covid. While going through years of photos, I realized I had accumulated countless images of people looking at art in museums and decided to create a group of paintings based on this interest.
The more I watched people in museums, and the more I developed the paintings, I could see a relationship unfolding between the animate and the inanimate, between the viewer and the art. Art can communicate if we stop and listen and I loved painting scenes that captured these conversations.
